Councilor Ted Gatsas is a lifelong resident of New Hampshire who grew up in the Queen City. He is the product of the Manchester public school system graduating from New Hampshire's oldest high school – Manchester Central High School. Upon graduation Ted attended the University of New Hampshire where he played Wildcat Football and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Following graduation Ted and his brother Michael started a local real estate company. Eventually the brothers founded Staffing Network, an employee leasing company that grew to become a nationally recognized model to employee services for small and large companies. Staffing Network's success was a result of hard work and personalized employee services and was sold to a publicly traded company.
Upon retirement Ted decided that it was time to give back to the community that had given so much to him and his family by entering public service. In 1999 he successfully ran to become the local Alderman in the City of Manchester representing Ward 2. In 2000, Ted entered the race for State Senate District 16, representing Bow, Candia, Dunbarton, Hooksett, and the City of Manchester Wards 1, 2, and 12, and won. Ted served as the Ward 2 Alderman and State Senator concurrently until 2009 when he was elected as Mayor for the City of Manchester.
For eight years Ted served as Mayor of the state's largest city. While Mayor, Ted spearheaded the effort to build the Manchester Municipal Complex, made significant investments and improvements in city infrastructure, and worked with local officials to implement the nationally recognized Safe Station program to combat the opioid crisis.
In 2018 Ted was elected to represent Executive Council District 4. He continues to live in Manchester's Ward 2 with his wife Cassandra.
